Animal Sports Logo

This is a common project that I start my Graphic Design students off with.  There is a process to it that demands they choose an animal, learn how to draw it well over the course of several assignments, learn how to manipulate it and represent it in various styles, and finally to render it within a Sports logo.  This project acts a good series of drawing exercises, as well as, compact way to make a visual statement, which leads to all types of conversations surround visual communication.  Since, I teach at an all-boys high school, sports are very easy for them to relate to.  But it also gives the chance to look critically at these images which usually display intensity and dynamism.
